Ezekiel Butler

Music For The Soul

Biography

Ezekiel Butler came about in 2006 when Pete Sen, musical director of Giffords Circus and graduate of the London College of Music, went into the studio to record a three song demo. These songs were 'Chelsea Calling' which he wrote after staying in the bohemian 'Chelsea Hotel' in New York. 'Liverpool' written about his love of the city and it's spirit, and 'One Regret', a song basically about being bitter and twisted.

A trip to the local shops in Gnosall took him through a churchyard where he saw two gravestones both belonging to Ezekiel Butler. Confused, Pete took this as an omen and that became the name of his band.

Immediately, 'Chelsea Calling' was snapped up by Matchbox Recordings for their CD compilation 'The Big Indie Comeback Vol 1' where it received critical acclaim and played on various radio stations.

In Feb 2007 Pete decided to form a band to perform the songs live as well as Pete's other material. After only three gigs, Ezekiel Butler were being interviewed on BBC Radio Oxford and headlining 'Commotion Festival 2007'. They have recently been playing around Cheltenham and London and look forward to the summer where they hope to be playing at some great music festivals.
